However, there hasn’t been much talk about AirTags recently, and some may assume that people seem to have forgotten about them. However, according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the shipment of Apple AirTags has gradually increased since 2021, and Apple may launch its successor.
AirTag, which has not received much attention, has gradually grown in shipments since its release. Shipment estimations of AirTag reach about 20 mn & 35 mn units in 2021 & 2022, respectively. If AirTag shipments continue to grow, I believe Apple will develop the 2nd generation.

With all this said, AirTag has had its own set of problems in the past. Thieves have attempted to steal vehicles using the product. AirTags were used for other nefarious purposes. Apple might very well work on anti-tracking as well as other useful features for the second generation AirTag.
The battery and speaker of the upcoming AirTag could be improved. We may even see a design improvement, such as eliminating the need to connect the AirTag as a keychain instead of using it without a loop.
